The South African Airways flight 406 was a scheduled flight of the national airline South African Airways , on which a Vickers Viscount 818 had an accident on March 13, 1967 . The aircraft crashed into the Indian Ocean while approaching East London Airport . All 25 passengers and crew members were killed. The flight accident investigators did not rule out that the captain had suffered a heart attack during the approach and that the aircraft thus got out of control without the co-pilot being able to regain control.
