Soviet war cemetery in Hamburg-Ohlsdorf

The Soviet war cemetery Hamburg-Ohlsdorf is located within the Ohlsdorf cemetery , which is in the Ohlsdorf district of the city of Hamburg in Germany. The graves of Soviet prisoners of war are located near the northern entrance to the S-Bahn Kornweg, Wellingsbüttler Strasse, Kornweg on Linnéstrasse and near Chapel 9. The graves of Soviet female forced laborers are near the eastern entrance to the cemetery ( Bramfeld, Bramfelder Chaussee ) and a little further away from Chapel 13.

Graves of Soviet prisoners of war

384 Soviet prisoners of war, who died in captivity from 1941 to 1945 as a result of forced labor, were buried there or were laid in bed in the 1950s, rest on the cemetery. The prisoners of war were assigned to the main camps (Stalag) XA in Schleswig and main camp XB in Sandbostel. They were work details in Hamburg, z. B. Norderwerft or in Hamburg-Waltershof . The grave sites are marked by lying stones. A list of the names of the deceased Soviet prisoners of war buried here is available.

The memorial is visited by representatives of the former USSR, ship crews and tour groups.

Graves of Soviet female forced laborers

140 Soviet female forced laborers were killed in a bombing raid in World War II and were buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery. Their names are documented in a list of names.
