SocialMarie

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SozialMarie - Prize for Social Innovation is a prize donated by the Austrian Unruhe Private Foundation , which is awarded for socially innovative projects and is associated with a cash prize.

The SozialMarie is the oldest award for social innovation in Europe and has been honoring outstanding projects on May 1st every year since 2005, which design and apply innovative solutions to social problems. It is financed by the Unruhe private foundation. An “expert jury” will select 15 award-winning projects from submitted projects at a public award ceremony at the ORF RadioKulturhaus in Vienna . The first three prizes are endowed with 15,000 euros, 10,000 euros and 5,000 euros, the other twelve prizes each with 2,000 euros. Since 2006, the importance of the award ceremony has also been underlined by people from public life who take on the protection of honor .

designation

The social component of the price should be emphasized with a feminine name. In addition, the name Marie is used in Viennese as a synonym for money .

Tender

The call for proposals is aimed at projects from Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Slovenia. The projects can be located in civil society, in the social sector, in the private sector and in public administration. The SozialMarie criteria of social innovation include not only the novelty value of solutions to social problems and the inclusion of target groups but also effective implementation. The award does not represent funding, but rather an award for effective social innovations.

jury

The jury is made up of six people from the fields of social sciences, social work, research, architecture, education and art. Currently these are:

  • Josef Hochgerner, founder and Senior Strategic Advisor of the Center for Social Innovation
  • Elisabeth Hammer, manager of the nineerhaus
  • Veronika Janyrova, project manager at the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies
  • Ana Jeinić, PhD student at the Institute for Architectural Theory, Art and Cultural Studies at TU Graz
  • Miroslav Kocúr, founding director of the CS Lewis bilingual high school in Bratislava, LEAF Award
  • Katalin Teller, Assistant Professor at the ELTE Institute for Art Theory and Media Studies in Budapest

Foundation, endowment

The Unruhe private foundation was set up in 2000 on the basis of an inheritance at the instigation of Wanda Moser-Heindl and Friedrich Moser. The purpose of the foundation is the direct promotion of art, science, research and innovation, the planning and implementation of seminars, congresses and assemblies, as well as the publication of findings and works with socio-political, innovative, scientific and artistic content. The foundation is a member of the Sinnstifter association . Several Austrian foundations have joined forces to jointly develop, support and implement projects in the social field.
