The Sozialgericht Leipzig is a dish of social jurisdiction of the Free State of Saxony . The president of the court is Michael Pies.

Seat and District of the Court

The social court (SG) has its seat in Leipzig . The Leipzig Social Court is locally responsible for lawsuits and applications from the city of Leipzig, the Leipzig district and the northern Saxony district. This does not apply to matters relating to statutory health insurance physicians and statutory health insurance physicians, for which the Dresden Social Court is responsible for all of Saxony. It is one of three social courts in the district of the Saxon State Social Court .

The courthouse is located north of Leipzig's old town at Berliner Str. 11 in 04105 Leipzig .

Superior courts

The Saxon State Social Court in Chemnitz and the Federal Social Court in Kassel are superordinate to the Leipzig Social Court.

history

There were no separate social courts in the GDR . Procedures under social law were dealt with by the conflict commissions . Those affected could turn to the complaints committee for social insurance at the FDGB against the decisions. After the fall of the Wall in 1992/1993, the new federal states created state social courts and social courts. The Leipzig Social Court has existed since July 1, 1992.
