The Spielvereinigung Kaufbeuren is a football club from the Bavarian town of Kaufbeuren .
history
The game association goes back to the Kaufbeuren gymnastics fire brigade , which was founded on August 8, 1858 and later renamed itself the Kaufbeuren gymnastics association . In 1909 a football department was established in the gymnastics club, which split off as the Kaufbeuren game association in 1920 and has since operated as an independent club.
For the first time, the game association attracted national attention in 1940 when they took part in the pre-qualification for the promotion games to Gauliga Bayern . There she missed the playoffs due to two clear defeats against SSV Schwaben Augsburg . Subsequently, the team played primarily in the lower divisions again, in 1958 they rose to the then third-class Bayern amateur league . As a newcomer, she reached the runner-up in her first season at the same level of play in the southern season behind Schwaben Augsburg, but at the end of the season she was ten points behind a clear gap. In the following years, the club was placed regularly in the middle of the table, missed the introduction of a single-track amateur league in 1963 as eighth in the qualification for the new league and was downgraded to the Landesliga Süd. As runners-up behind TSG Augsburg 85 , the team failed in 1964 due to a direct return to the third division, which was made up in the following season as champions with six points ahead of the amateur team of the former Bundesliga club TSV 1860 Munich . The young Franz "Bulle" Roth was one of the players on the promotion team, but moved to FC Bayern in 1966 , where he became one of the stars of the club's first golden era.
With an almost completely balanced balance - 13 wins were compared to 13 defeats, 72 goals scored 73 goals - SpVgg Kaufbeuren held the class in the 1965/66 season as eighth of the table, in the following season they were sixth from the bottom third Points to keep up. With seven points ahead of MTV Ingolstadt , the team returned straight away as champions of the regional league, once again their stay in the third division lasted only two seasons, and with just two wins of the season and 108 goals conceded, the team was clearly bottom of the league at the end of the season in 1970. This time the relegated placed only in the middle of the table and did not return to the promotion race until 1972/73, when fourth in the table was three points missing from the regional league champions, the reserve of FC Bayern Munich . In the summer of 1974, however, the game association ended the season as first in the table, again they played two years in the amateur league.
As relegated it was enough for SpVgg Kaufbeuren to seventh place in the table, in the 1977/78 season they were only separated by three points from a relegation place. In the following years, the final results were changeable, in 1982 the team was third in the table, twelve points behind champions FC Wacker Munich , and in 1986 they were relegated to the fifth division.
Probably the most important personality to come from the club after Franz Roth is the long-time Bundesliga referee Hermann Albrecht , who, in addition to numerous national and European cup games, also chaired the 2000/01 DFB Cup final .
Since the 2019/20 season, the club has been participating in futsal games under the name Futsal Allgäu . The futsal department was created in 2019 through the takeover of the futsal department of the BSK Olympia Neugablonz, which was founded for the 2018/19 season under the name BSK Futsal Allgäu .
