The SpVgg 1920 Oberhausen eV is a German football club based in the Baden-Württemberg community of Oberhausen-Rheinhausen in the district of Karlsruhe .
history
Founded until World War II
The club was founded in 1920 as a football club in 1920 Oberhausen . The club then got its start in the C-Class . After the championship at the end of the 1923/24 season, the company was promoted to the B-class . In 1924 the ATSV Astoria Oberhausen decided to dissolve it and joined the football club on February 2nd. The members agreed on Spielvereinigung 1920 Oberhausen as a new name . After the 1927/28 season, the championship in the B-class was also successful , with which the team was allowed to move up to the 1st district class for the next season . In 1933 the team became champions there and was allowed to move up to the district class. The game association stayed there for only one season and had to be relegated again. In the 1938/39 season, the championship succeeded again, but the team could not prevail in the subsequent promotion games. With the outbreak of the Second World War, gaming operations then largely came to a standstill.
post war period
In October the association met for the first time. In the 1945/46 season, the championship in the 1st district class was achieved. Through a few more qualifying games, the team was allowed to move up to the next season in the then second-class Landesliga Nordbaden . With 12:48 points in the group south, the club had to relegate to 15th place after just one season. In the 1947/48 season, the club played again in the district class, but had to relegate again after this season, this time to the A-class.
Already after the 1954/55 season, however, the championship title succeeded again and the game association was allowed to rise to the 2nd amateur league. After the 1956/57 season, however, the relegation was due again. After a narrowly failed promotion after the 1962/63 season, at the end of the 1964/65 season, however, the promotion to the 2nd amateur league again succeeded.
Current time
After being promoted from the regional league, the club played in the Baden association league from the 2020/03 season and ended this season in fifth place with 46 points. In the following seasons he was never able to achieve the championship or promotion despite constant placement in the front positions. Due to the second place in the 2004/05 season even the qualification for participation in the promotion relegation to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg , where the club was defeated 2-1 at FC Emmendingen . The same happened after the 2005/06 season with another one. However, the team lost again there, this time to Bahlinger SC from Südbaden 3: 5.
After the 2008/09 season, the club finally had to leave the league as a relegated team with 30 points over 14th place. In the Landesliga Mittelbaden, with 37 points over 14th place, the relegation could only just be prevented. With just 15 points in last place, the team had to relegate one more time after the 2010/11 season. In the district league Bruchsal then succeeded in stopping the decline in the next season. The team was able to position itself in third place in the table with 53 points. After the 2015/16 season, however, relegation from this division had to be started as the penultimate. The first season in the district class A could only be completed with 36 points in 12th place. The club still plays in this league to this day.
