Sparenmoos
The Sparenmoos is a raised bog area in the municipalities of Zweisimmen and Boltigen in the Bernese Oberland . It has been open to cross-country skiing since the late 1970s and was the venue for the Swiss cross-country skiing championships in 1988 and 2016 . In summer it is developed as a hiking area.
Location and development
The Sparenmoos is between 1,600 and 1,800 meters above sea level, around 2 kilometers west of the town of Zweisimmen. Access is via Heimchueweid and in winter is only permitted with snow chains or four-wheel drive and changing direction every half hour (one-way traffic).
