history

In 1872 the community committee suggested the establishment of a savings bank in order to offer the population mainly active in agriculture an opportunity to invest and borrow. The community assumed liability. The statutes and the establishment were approved in mid-January. At the beginning of February 1872 could be opened.

Initially, the Sparkasse had its seat in the old municipal office. In 1885 the municipality made its former office space available in exchange for interest, the previous customer space became an entrance or waiting room. After the new school was completed (and financed by the savings bank), the municipal office and savings bank were relocated to the old school. This building had since passed into the ownership of the Sparkasse. All necessary modifications were paid for by the savings bank. The building was renovated between 1925 and 1929, and in 1932 the Sparkasse donated part of the garden to the Red Cross. In 1937 the offices were renovated and refurbished. In 1971 the Sparkasse moved to the house it had acquired on the main square. After an extension in 1987 and the establishment of a self-service zone in 1988, further extensions and conversions were made to the office space. In 1996 the cash desk was expanded. The Sparkasse is currently at the same location.

In 2007 the Kirchschlag community savings bank was sold to the Sparkasse Baden under the leadership of Mayor Franz Pichler-Holzer. The purchase price was EUR 23.150 million.

Sparkasse Kirchschlag AG was merged with Sparkasse Baden on January 1, 2011, and the technical integration took place on June 17, 2011. Before that, Sparkasse Baden had already been 100% owner.
