Kirchschlag is a market town with 622 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Zwettl district in Lower Austria .
geography
Kirchschlag is located in the southern Waldviertel in Lower Austria, about four kilometers south of Ottenschlag . The area of the market town covers 29.24 square kilometers. 46.67% of the area is forested.

Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census , there were 717 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 738 inhabitants, in 1981 795 and in 1971 883 inhabitants.
