history
However, a document from 1096 now recognized as forged could contain a grain of truth. The state ministerial Otto von Lautisdorf founded Ottenschlag around 1100. (Around the same time, his brother Berthold laid out small pert wood, which consisted of a farm and a row of eight farmers to the east). This later Linsenanger market turns out to be a farm in the north and a row of 11 farmers in the south after the settlement analysis. In the judicial field and the lime kiln field, the Hofacker stripes of 10-11 yoke each can be traced. It was not until the development of the 14th century that there was a considerable expansion to the lentil-shaped form and then to the market.
In 1596 Ottenschlag was the scene of armed conflicts during the peasant uprisings. During the Reformation in the 16th century, Ottenschlag became a center of Protestantism. During the Thirty Years' War the Swedes besieged the castle and destroyed the place and church.
The place was hit by fire disasters six times, the last time in 1911. On April 20, 1945 Ottenschlag was bombed by Russian bombers. 56 houses were hit.
