Göpfritz an der Wild is a market town with 1818 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Zwettl district in Lower Austria .

geography

Geographical location

Göpfritz an der Wild is located in the heart of the Waldviertel in Lower Austria about 20 kilometers northeast of the district capital Zwettl . The area of ​​the market town covers 60.58 square kilometers. 36.93 percent of the area is forested. The Wild is a wooded area north of the Allentsteig military training area .

Göpfritz is on Waldviertler Straße B 2, on the Franz-Josefs-Bahn and on the 111 km long Thayarunde cycle path .

Population development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1,809 inhabitants. In 1991 the municipality had 1,881 inhabitants, in 1981 1,986 and in 1971 2,233 inhabitants.

Economy and Infrastructure

In 2001 there were 55 non-agricultural workplaces, agricultural and forestry operations 158 according to the 1999 survey. According to the 2001 census, the number of people in employment at the place of residence was 756. The 2001 activity rate was 42.28 percent.

The coat of arms of the market town reads: The golden letter G in Gothic script appears floating on a blue shield. At the foot of the sign is a hilly meadow surrounded by coniferous forests, on which there are three tree stumps. In the foreground a tall fir tree rises up from the young wood. The shield is surrounded by an ornamented bronze-colored border.
