Merkenbrechts is a town and a cadastral municipality of the market town of Göpfritz an der Wild in the Zwettl district in Lower Austria .

Settlement development

At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there was a total of 101 building areas with 60,785 m² and 84 gardens on 35,800 m² in the cadastral municipality of Merkenbrechts , in 1989/1990 there were 118 building areas. In 1999/2000 the number of building areas had increased to 201 and in 2009/2010 there were 87 buildings on 205 building areas.

Land use

The cadastral community is characterized by agriculture. 674 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of 1979/1980 and 921 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000 agriculture was carried out on 705 hectares and 886 hectares were designated as areas used for forestry. At the end of 2018, 634 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 928 hectares. The average floor climate of Merkenbrechts is 23.7 (as of 2010).
