Ludweis-Aigen is a market town with 905 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Waidhofen an der Thaya district in Lower Austria .
geography
Ludweis-Aigen is located in the northern Waldviertel in Lower Austria south of Raabs an der Thaya . The area of the market town covers 51.18 square kilometers. 30.31 percent of the area is forested.

history
The eponymous district of Ludweis was first mentioned in 1242, Aigen as early as 1122. The district of Ludweis-Aigen that was mentioned earliest in a document is Liebenberg in 1112.
Ludweis was raised to the market in 1363. Aigen was a center of the Reformation in the 16th century .

Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1023 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 1,136 inhabitants, in 1981 1,310 and in 1971 1,471 inhabitants.

In 2001 there were 30 non-agricultural workplaces, and according to the 1999 survey there were 152 in agriculture and forestry . The number of people in work at the place of residence was 412 according to the 2001 census. The employment rate in 2001 was 40.95 percent.
