With the decision of the Lower Austrian provincial government of August 22, 1972, the municipality of Irnfritz-Messern was awarded a municipal coat of arms. His blazon : "A split shield, in the right field on a silver background a red bar, in the left field on a black background three golden sheaves of corn, two to one." The community colors are white and black.

In 2001 there were 45 non-agricultural workplaces, agricultural and forestry businesses according to the 1999 survey 139. The number of people in work at home was 634 according to the 2001 census. The 2001 employment rate was 46.45 percent. With around 80 employees, the Waldviertel Recycling Park is one of the largest employers in the Irnfritz community. Companies based in the recycling park are a certified waste management company , Stark GmbH, an iron and steel retailer, the Pipibox franchise headquarters, the Smart Motel headquarters and the heat contracting company Energie Mobil.
traffic
- Rail: The ÖBB operate the Irnfritz station on the Franz-Josefs-Bahn . A new plant, the Waldviertel Recycling Park, was built directly on this in 1997.
- Bus: Several regional bus routes operated by Postbus stop at Irnfritz and other places in the community.
- Road: Irnfritz-Messern is on the L42, L50 and L52 state roads .

- Adolf Blaim (1942–2004), Austrian painter, illustrator and gallery owner, lived and died in knives.
