Pernegg is a market town with 702 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Horn district in Lower Austria .

Pernegg is located in the Waldviertel in Lower Austria. The area of the market town covers 36.6 square kilometers. About 43 percent of the area is forested.

history
The first written mention of the name Pernegg took place in 1112 in a chronicle of the St. Georgen monastery. In 1230 the place was granted market rights.
coat of arms
With the decision of the Lower Austrian provincial government of April 3, 2001, the municipality of Pernegg was awarded a municipal coat of arms. His blazon reads:
- "In silver on the green ground on the right a green deciduous tree, the trunk of which is held by an upright black bear standing on the left side of the tree with its front paws."
The community colors are red-white-blue.

In 2001 there were 28 non-agricultural workplaces, according to the 1999 survey, 87 agricultural and forestry holdings. The number of people in employment at the place of residence was 311 in the 2001 census, the activity rate was 42.2%.

- Train: Pernegg is on the Franz-Josefs-Bahn . The only train station in the municipality in Ludweishofen was closed in 1994. The closest ÖBB train stations are Hötzelsdorf-Geras and Irnfritz on the Franz-Josefs-Bahn and Horn on the Kamptalbahn .
- Bus: The PostBus bus company runs to stops on line 1304 ( Horn - Drosendorf ) in Pernegg and Posselsdorf and stops on line 1312 (Horn - Schweinburg) in Pernegg, Etzelsreith, Posselsdorf, Nödersdorf, Raisdorf and Staningersdorf.
- Street: Horner Straße B 4 leads through Pernegg.
