Location of Raisdorf in Schleswig-Holstein

Raisdorf is a district of the city of Schwentinental in Schleswig-Holstein . Until February 29, 2008, it was an unofficial community. The district includes the districts of Raisdorf-Nord, Raisdorf-Süd, Karkkamp, Reuterkoppel, Hof Reuterkoppel, (Hellerkate) Vogelsang, Weinbergsiedlung, industrial area Raisdorf-West (Ostseepark) and industrial area Raisdorf-Nord. One of the landmarks of the community is the old smokehouse, which is now used as a registry office; Up to a fire in 1995 the cottage was also smoked.

Geography and traffic

Raisdorf is on federal highways 76 and 202 between Kiel and Preetz . The Kiel – Lübeck railway runs through the town. The regional trains RE83 and RB 84 stop there. There is a half-hourly service.

history

The former municipality of Raisdorf can look back on a long history. The place was founded probably around the year 1000. In 1369 Hinrich Blok sold his property, a larger farm, to the Preetz monastery , in whose possession the farm remained for about 500 years. It wasn't until 1873 that the now quite large number of farmers were able to develop freely.

In the two world wars, Raisdorf also suffered painful losses, especially due to its proximity to the Reich war port of Kiel , which was the target of the Allies.

A memorial stone still commemorates the victims of the First World War today .

In 1965 Raisdorf became an unofficial municipality.

On September 1, 1971, part of the Rastorf community with then around 50 residents was reclassified to Raisdorf.

On January 1st, 2008, Raisdorf took over the administration of the Selent / Schlesen office as part of an administrative community .

On March 1, 2008, the new town of Schwentinental was formed through the merger of the previously unofficial communities of Klausdorf and Raisdorf .

coat of arms

The coat of arms and flag were approved on August 16, 1968.

Blazon : "Divided three times by green and gold and an oak branch in exchanged colors."

The heraldic image on which the community coat of arms of Raisdorf is based was inspired by the seal of the squire Hinrich Block, who owned the place until 1369 and then sold it to the Preetz monastery. The noble's “talking” coat of arms showed two crossbars on the shield. The oak branch placed on the herald's picture serves on the one hand as a reference to the extensive forests in the municipal area, which largely consist of oaks. On the other hand, the “oak rice” represents the popular symbolization of the first syllable of the community name (“Rais”). The choice of colors takes into account that the community has been characterized by agriculture up to the present day. The green tincture also refers to the forest areas mentioned, some of which are protected as landscape protection areas. The golden color is supposed to remind of the color of the sun; the name of the main street of the municipality is "Sonnenhöhe". The formal connection of the coat of arms elements through their representation “in exchanged colors” makes the special heraldic charm of the coat of arms.

The coat of arms was designed by the Brunsbüttel heraldist Willy "Horsa" Lippert .

flag

In green, four narrow horizontal yellow stripes, the two lower ones continuous, the two upper ones starting in the upper half of the leech; in this the oak branch of the coat of arms in yellow.

Partnerships

The community of Raisdorf had a partnership with the city of Uttoxeter in Staffordshire ( Great Britain ) until 2003 . The partnership was unilaterally ended by Uttoxeter. Further partnerships existed with the communities of Raisdorf (community of Pernegg) in Austria and Schöneiche near Berlin .

Tourism and recreation

The Schwentinepark with its 40 hectares and an adjacent outdoor pool offers numerous opportunities for relaxation. The park also includes the Rosensee , a reservoir for a hydropower plant , which was built by Bernhard Howaldt in 1908/09 (see also Helix Tower Fish Pass ) . The Schwentine flows through the Rosensee and flows into the Kiel Fjord and thus into the Baltic Sea. The Schwentine oxbow lake has been a nature reserve since 1984 and is part of the European Natura 2000 ecological network . Raisdorf is also an entry and exit point for many water sports enthusiasts. From 2002 to 2009, in the last three months of the year in Raisdorf, you could visit Germany's largest horror labyrinth in the traditional and adventure restaurant “Villa Fernsicht”, which is run by the descendants of Heinrich Schliemann (Troy discoverers). In 2010 the horror was limited to a dinner show that was played several times a week, as the horror labyrinth was relocated to Kiel after disputes with the city administration.

economy

Raisdorf oil pump

The district of Raisdorf has a large shopping and industrial area, the Ostsee-Park , in which a number of large specialist dealers (for electronics, motor vehicles, tools, building supplies, furniture, clothing, office goods, imported goods, etc.), department stores and grocery chains are located. There are also fast-food restaurants and a 4,000 m² discotheque called the Atrium Kiel .

This shopping area benefits from its proximity to Kiel. The hydropower plant II in Raisdorf, built in 1909 by the shipyard's founder Bernhard Howaldt , produces environmentally friendly electricity.

From 1962 to around 1985, oil was produced in Raisdorf . This is evidenced by a petroleum pump as an industrial monument .

schools

Raisdorf has a primary school, a community school, a vocational school for pharmaceutical-technical assistants and a state boarding school for the physically handicapped. The next high schools are in Elmschenhagen and Wellingdorf .
