Hans A. Fischer-Barnicol

Hans Adolf Fischer-Barnicol (born August 24, 1930 in Eisenach ; † April 28, 1999 in Pernegg Monastery / Austria ) was a German scholar of religion and culture and a philosopher. He was the head of the Institute for Intercultural Research in Heidelberg .

Live and act

Hans Fischer-Barnicol graduated from the humanistic grammar school in Eisenach. Two years later he fled the Soviet occupation zone to the West. From 1948 to 1957 he studied theology, religious studies and philosophy in West Berlin. From 1958 to 1962 worked Fischer Barnicol on the editorial board of an international inquiry on the problems of university reform and the philosophy of science. From 1959 to 1969 he worked in a research group for symbolism, which he had also co-founded, and wrote drafts for an international research center on “basic questions in the sciences”. He edited Carl Albrecht's writings on mysticism.

In 1969 Fischer-Barnicol became professor and Dr. hc from Academia Sinica, Xang-Ming Shan, Taipei (ROC). From 1973 to 1994 Fischer-Barnicol was a co-founder and organizer of the foundation association that supports the Institute for Intercultural Research (IIR), Intercultural Cooperation (ICC) International with its headquarters in Switzerland. From 1991 to 1995 he held lectures and seminars at universities in China.
