Messern is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Irnfritz-Messern in the Horn district in Lower Austria .
Settlement development
At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there was a total of 105 building areas with 46,161 m² and 116 gardens on 136,623 m² in the cadastral community of Messern , in 1989/1990 there were 104 building areas. In 1999/2000 the number of building areas had grown to 326 and in 2009/2010 there were 146 buildings on 341 building areas.
Land use
The cadastral community is characterized by agriculture. 302 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of the year 1979/1980 and 1,382 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000, 291 hectares of agriculture were practiced and 1,392 hectares were designated as forest areas. At the end of 2018, 279 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 1,379 hectares. The average soil climate number of knives is 32.7 (as of 2010).
