history

It is not known exactly since when Klein-Ulrichschlag or its immediate vicinity was inhabited, but old field names, for example the forest called "Blößberg" southeast of the village, indicate early settlement. In the middle of it rises the 575 m high, also wooded, Schlossberg with a well-known house mountain (diameter approx. 60 meters). The bottom of the trench is 3 to 4 meters wide, the outer edge of the trench 2 to 4 meters high. The castle plateau measures 33 × 26 m and rises almost 4 meters above the bottom of the trench. During an excavation carried out in 1976, a number of ceramic remains from the 12th and 13th centuries were found. Furthermore, some lime mortar residues the size of a child were found, which suggest wall fixtures. In terms of type, it is an early, non-structured complex, as it was created in the Waldviertel at the end of the 11th century. After the castle on Blößberg, a knightly family (circa 1190 de Pleszperge) called themselves until the 14th century (1327 de Plezperig).

In the "Kreuzluß" corridor northwest of Klein-Ulrichschlag there is a deserted area (abandoned village) that may have existed from the 12th to 15th or 16th centuries. During an inspection, 726 pieces (5.5 kg) of ceramics were found. 17% of them are high medieval, 65% late medieval and 18% oxidizing fired, mostly glazed on the inside. The place Klein-Ulrichschlag was founded by the Lords of Pernegg (Ulrich I +1145, Ulrich II + 1179).

Klein-Ulrichschlag (Vlrichslag, ecclesia) was first mentioned in a document from Duke Friedrich II on July 12, 1242.
