Laurenz Genner

Laurenz Genner (born August 5, 1894 in Irnfritz , † July 11, 1962 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Workers' Party (SDAP) and the Communist Party of Austria KPÖ.

Life

Laurenz Genner graduated from compulsory school, was a farmer and between 1917 and 1924 editor for the Arbeiter-Zeitung .

In 1934 he met Tea Ludmilla Erdheim , who was of Jewish origin. The exact date of the marriage of the two is not known, but it probably took place after 1944. In 1950 this marriage was divorced again. The marriage has two daughters, including the writer Claudia Erdheim .

Furthermore Laurenz Genner is also the father of Michael Genner , chairman of Asyl in Not .

Laurenz Genner was buried on July 19, 1962 in the Vienna Central Cemetery.

Political career

  • May 10, 1932 - February 17 , 1934 : Member of the National Council
  • from 1934: active with the Revolutionary Socialists
  • 1938: Transfer to the Austrian Communist Party
  • April 27, 1945 - December 20, 1945: Undersecretary of State in the State Office for Agriculture and Forestry in the Renner Provisional State Government
  • 1945: Deputy Governor of Lower Austria
  • 1945–1954: Provincial Councilor in the Lower Austrian Landtag
  • 1956: Leaving the KPÖ

He was imprisoned between 1938 and 1940 for political imprisonment.
