Ernst Winsauer

Ernst Winsauer (born February 27, 1890 in Dornbirn ; † November 28, 1962 in Bregenz ) was Governor of Vorarlberg .

Life

Ernst Winsauer attended secondary school in Dornbirn . During his school days he founded the KMV Siegberg Dornbirn on January 12, 1907. He studied chemistry at the TH Prague and had been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Vandalia Prague since 1909 . From 1925 he was Vice President of the Vorarlberg Farmers Chamber. From July 17, 1929 to May 2, 1934 he was a mandate of the Christian Social Party in the National Council .

On July 24, 1934, he was appointed governor with the consent of Federal Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss . He held this office until March 1938. Immediately after the "Anschluss" of Austria , on March 13, 1938, his former classmate Anton Plankensteiner was appointed Gauleiter of the Reichsgau Tirol-Vorarlberg by the Vorarlberg National Socialists .

In 1945 Winsau was Federal Councilor and Undersecretary of State for People's Nutrition in the Provisional State Government Renner . Until 1955 he was director of the “Chemical Research Institute of the State of Vorarlberg” in Bregenz.
