Ferdinand Redler (born January 6, 1876 in Bregenz , † November 18, 1936 in Vienna ) was an Austrian lawyer and politician ( CS ). Redler was provincial governor in Vorarlberg from 1923 to 1930 and from 1931 to 1934 , provincial governor from 1930/31 and Senate President at the Austrian Federal Court of Justice from 1934 to 1936 .

Ferdinand Redler was born on January 6, 1876 in Bregenz, the son of the ladies' dress maker and member of the state parliament, Josef Redler, and his wife Luise Eva Josefine. After attending primary school in Bregenz, he graduated from the Vinzentinum grammar school in Brixen, where he graduated from high school in 1897. He then began studying law at the universities of Graz , Munich and Vienna . During his studies he was a member of the student associations Carolina Graz , Aenania Munich and Norica Vienna . At the Vienna University doctorate he finally 1902 Doctor of Laws (Dr. iur.). Following his studies, he completed his legal internship in Vienna and Feldkirch and then joined a law firm in Merano as an intern in 1903 . On September 12, 1904, Ferdinand Redler married Maria Katharina Josefina Ölz in Bregenz, with whom he later had five children. In 1909 he opened his own law firm in Feldkirch, which ran until 1934.

Ferdinand Redler entered active politics on November 3, 1918, when he became a member of the Vorarlberg provisional assembly for the Christian Social Party and at the same time became the second deputy governor in the state government and substitute member for Jodok Fink in the state council . From December 27, 1918 to June 16, 1919, he was second deputy governor in Otto Ender's provincial government .

From 1919 Redler was a full member of the state parliament in the Vorarlberg state parliament as a representative of the Feldkirch electoral district . During his tenure as a member of the state parliament until 1934 Redler was twice, 1923–1930 and 1931–1934, first vice-president of the Vorarlberg state parliament and also from 9 December 1930 to 14 July 1931 state parliament president . At the level of the state government, Ferdinand Redler rose to become the first deputy governor on June 17, 1919. With the establishment of the new Vorarlberg state constitution in 1923, Redler became the first Vorarlberg state governor on November 6 of the same year , which he remained until his election as governor on December 9, 1930. Due to the appointment of the previous Governor Otto Ender as Austrian Federal Chancellor , Ferdinand Redler took over his office as Governor until July 14, 1931. When Ender returned to Vorarlberg from federal politics in 1931, he again became Vorarlberg Governor and Redler again as Governor his deputy.

Until March 5, 1934, Ferdinand Redler remained state governor with the municipal affairs department. In the same year, on July 15, he also resigned his state parliament mandate in order to be able to answer the call to the Federal Court of Justice in Vienna. The Austro-Fascist corporate state created by the May constitution of 1934 made it possible for Redler to take over the office of Senate President in the highest judicial body of the new state. Ferdinand Redler held this office until his death on November 18, 1936.
