Sebastian Ritter von Froschauer (or Sebastian Franz Xaver Aloys von Froschauer zu Moosburg and Mühlrain ; born June 18, 1801 in Reuthe , † May 8, 1884 in Vienna ) was a lawyer and governor of Vorarlberg .

biography

Sebastian Franz grew up as the son of Alois-Johann in Tyrol and joined the Tyrolean Lieutenancy after completing his law degree. As a result, he became a governor's council in Innsbruck until 1866 and then a liberal member of the Reichsrat and Landtag.

On September 15, 1835 he married Carlotta Angela Giulia de Vettorazzi (Edle von Treuenhold) and he was district administrator in Merano from November 30, 1854 to 1856 .

In 1857 he was one of the founders of the Vorarlberger Landesmuseumsverein with Ernst von Pöllnitz and others with the aim of creating a state museum. The Vorarlberger Landesmuseumsverein was founded under Sebastian von Froschauer, and he remained its chairman until 1873. In 1868 he was one of the founding members of the Association for the History of Lake Constance and its Surroundings .

In 1860 Sebastian Ritter von Froschauer was appointed the first governor (or district chief) of Vorarlberg by Emperor Franz Joseph I. and held this office until April 6, 1861. In 1861, Vorarlberg again received a state parliament that was elected by the people and met for the first time in Bregenz on April 6, chaired by Froschauer .

Sebastian Ritter von Froschauer was interested in promoting agriculture and expanding the rail network during his political activities. Anton Jussel succeeded him as governor on June 27, 1873.

Sebastian von Froschauer died on May 8, 1884 in Vienna.
