Anton Jussel

Anton Jussel (born November 6, 1816 in Bludenz , † July 23, 1878 in Bregenz ) was a liberal lawyer and governor of Vorarlberg (1873–1878).

Life

Jussel graduated from high school in Feldkirch in 1834 and immediately began studying law in Innsbruck . On July 27, 1842, Jussel received his doctorate from the law faculty of the University of Innsbruck.

In 1842 he entered the civil service as a doctor of law, in which he last worked as a district judge in Ampezzo in South Tyrol.

In November 1866, Jussel was elected from the Bludenz-Montafon constituency and in 1867 by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament.

On June 27, 1873 Anton Jussel was appointed Governor of Vorarlberg by Emperor Franz Joseph I. He thus succeeded Sebastian Ritter von Froschauer (* 1801; † 1884).

Jussel held the office until 1878 and after him Karl Graf von Belrupt-Tissac (* 1826, † 1903) was appointed governor by the emperor.

When he was appointed in 1873, Jussel moved to Bregenz , where he lived until his death on July 23, 1878.
