Rudolf Mandl (born August 20, 1926 in Feldkirch ; † March 28, 2010 ibid) was an Austrian lawyer and politician ( ÖVP ). Mandl was a member of the Vorarlberg provincial government from 1969 to 1984 and from 1974 to 1984 provincial governor of Vorarlberg .

Life path

Mandl attended high school in Feldkirch and graduated from high school in 1944, after which he was drafted into military service by the German armed forces. After his release from US prisoner -of- war captivity , he studied law at the University of Innsbruck and was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD . After the court year , he joined his father's law firm. Up until his appointment as governor in 1974, Mandl ran the office together with his father, after having passed the bar exam in February 1956.

In 1960 Mandl was elected to the Feldkirch city council for the Austrian People's Party . From 1965 to 1970 he was then city councilor for construction in his hometown. In 1969, Mandl was appointed to the Vorarlberg regional government , where he was initially regional councilor for finance, building construction, public housing and housing subsidies until 1974 (from 1973 he was also responsible for legislation). After the state elections in Vorarlberg in 1974 , Mandl became state governor in the newly constituted state government Keßler III , i.e. deputy to governor Herbert Keßler . Mandl held this office for ten years before he retired from state politics in 1984 with the inauguration of the new state government Keßler V. He then returned to running his own law firm.

In 1995 Rudolf Mandl was awarded the Gold Medal of Honor of the State of Vorarlberg . He was married and had a son and a daughter.
