Eduard Ulmer

Eduard Ulmer (born November 30, 1899 in Dornbirn ; † May 4, 1970 ibid) was a Vorarlberg state politician of the ÖVP . For this he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament , from 1945 regional councilor in the Vorarlberg state government and from 1959 to 1963 regional governor of Vorarlberg.

Career

Ulmer started his political career in his hometown Dornbirn, where he worked as head of the Vorarlberg publishing house. From 1929 to 1938 he was first for the Christian Social Party and then for the ÖVP city council in Dornbirn. During the time of Austrofascism , Ulmer headed the Vorarlberg state organization of the Fatherland Front , a unitary organization of the corporate state.

When, after the regaining of Vorarlberg sovereignty through the liberation of Austria in 1945, a provisional state government was set up in the form of the Vorarlberg state committee , Eduard Ulmer was appointed by Ulrich Ilg as a member of the state committee with responsibility for economics. Even in the later state governments under Ilg, Ulmer was always entrusted with the economic department. In 1959 Ulmer was even appointed state governor in the Ilg IV state government. In this office he was ultimately responsible for the business and road construction departments. On December 31, 1963, Eduard Ulmer resigned from his government functions due to health problems. His successor as governor was Gerold Ratz . In 1964 Eduard Ulmer was awarded the Gold Medal of Honor of the State of Vorarlberg for his services . Ulmer died on May 4, 1970 in Dornbirn, where he was buried in the city cemetery.
