Albertina Dias (born April 26, 1965 in Miragaia , Porto ; full name Maria Albertina da Costa Dias ) is a former Portuguese long-distance runner .

In 1986 Dias became the Portuguese champion in the 3000 meter run for the first time . Two further titles over this distance followed in 1989 and 1991. She was also national champion in the 1500 meters (1992), the 10,000 meters (1993 and 1995), in the 15 km road race (1995) and in the cross country race (1992, 1993 and 1995) ). In 1989 she won the 10 km at the Ottawa Race Weekend . As fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Seville in 1991 , she set a national record for the hall with 8: 55.45 min, two further national records for this distance outdoors followed this year (8: 43.50 min) and the following year (8 : 43.08 min).

At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , she was tenth over 10,000 meters. Over the same distance she was eliminated at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo and came 13th at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona .

She had her most successful season the following year. First she won the Cross Country World Championships , where she was second in 1990, sixth in 1991 and third in 1992. In the summer she set a national record over 5000 meters with 15: 05.12 minutes and was seventh over 10,000 meters at the World Championships in Stuttgart . Finally, on her debut over the marathon distance, she came second in the Berlin Marathon .

In 1994 she was fifth in the World Cross Country Championships , fourth in the World Half Marathon Championships , tenth in the Boston and eighth in the New York City Marathon .

At the World Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 , she was eliminated over 10,000 meters in the run. At the end of the season she was fifth in the Reims Marathon . At her third Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 , she competed in the marathon and came in 27th place.

Albertina Dias started for Boavista FC until 1991 , then for Maratona da Maia. She is married to her trainer Bernardino Pereira.
