The state government Ilg IV was the Vorarlberg state government active from 1959 to 1964 . It was the last state government chaired by Governor Ulrich Ilg and was formed following the state elections in Vorarlberg in 1959 . The government cabinet of the fourth freely elected state government after the regaining of Vorarlberg sovereignty was composed of 5 members of the Vorarlberg People's Party and one member each from the Socialist Party and the Freedom Party .

In its first session on October 29, 1959, the 29th Vorarlberg Landtag appointed the government in its new composition. In the previous state parliament election on October 18 of the same year, for the first time no more 26, but 36 seats were awarded in the Vorarlberg state parliament. In relative terms, however, this change did not bring the three campaigning parties very much. While the ÖVP had 21 instead of 16 seats after the election, the SPÖ were able to send 10 (previously 7) and the FPÖ 5 (previously WdU 3), who was running under this name for the first time, to the state parliament. For the first time, two women (one each from ÖVP and SPÖ) and representatives of the Kleinwalsertal and Klostertal entered the state parliament after the state elections . The term of office of the state government Ilg IV ended in 1964 when the newly elected state government Keßler I took over the government .

During the term of office of the state government Ilg IV, the previous state governor Eduard Ulmer resigned from the government team on December 31, 1963. His successor as state governor was the previous state councilor Dr. Gerold Ratz, who in turn was inherited from Martin Müller in his post as regional councilor. Müller took over the agendas of the resigned governor and Ratz retained his previous agendas as provincial councilor as the new deputy governor.
