The state government Ilg III was the government cabinet of the Vorarlberg state government that was active from 1954 to 1959 . In the state parliament session on October 29, 1954, it was appointed by the Vorarlberg state parliament as the third freely elected state government after 1945 . With Ulrich Ilg, the provincial governor was provided for the third time by the Vorarlberg People's Party, again represented with an absolute majority in the state parliament .

In the state elections in Vorarlberg in 1954 , the People's Party with top candidate Ilg was able to maintain its absolute majority of 16 members and slightly increase its share of the vote by 1.5%. The electoral party of the Independents, on the other hand, suffered heavy losses compared to the last election and lost 3 of their originally 6 seats to the Socialist Party of Austria , which was able to restore the number of seats it had already had of 6 members in 1945. As in the previous state government Ilg II , the ÖVP also involved a state council from the two other parties in this government constellation. The former Federal Councilor Dr. Ernst Kolb appointed.

On April 13, 1957, the long-serving SPÖ Provincial Councilor Jakob Bertsch died at the age of 66. As his successor, on May 25, 1957, his party colleague Josef Schoder was sworn in as the new regional councilor for welfare and health care and state institutions.
