The small region ASTEG, founded in 2006, is supported by the small region Asteg association , whose board is made up of the mayors and local councils from the member communities. A special feature of the ASTEG small region is the involvement of the Austrian Armed Forces , which owns and uses almost half of the Allentsteig military training area. The small region operates a project office in Schwarzenau .

Projects

The main tasks of the small region are the expansion and marketing of the recreational area with a health competence center and the neuro-rehabilitation center in Allentsteig, the expansion of a cycle path network, the strengthening of regional identity through measures such as the establishment of a website for the small region and - in cooperation with the small region Kampseen - the Establishment of a disaster control center. Another central aspect is the cooperation with the Austrian Armed Forces, which operates one of the larger military training areas in Europe in the small region, which is on the one hand the largest employer in the small region, but at the same time represents a burden on its economic development.
