history

The association Zukunftsraum Thayaland has its origins in the small region “Erlebnis Thayaland” founded in 1997 and the cross-border impulse center (GIZ) Thayaland and the small region PWGD. Until 2006, GIZ Thayaland dealt with “breaking down borders in people's minds” and activating interregional, cross-border cooperation. These activities are important for the Lower Austrian border regions in order to be able to better use the economic opportunities of the EU-east expansion. Thereafter, the Thayaland future region was founded as the successor organization to the PWGD small region ( Pfaffenschlag municipality, Waidhofen an der Thaya municipality, Groß-Siegharts municipality and Dietmanns market municipality ) the GIZ Thayaland ( Dobersberg municipality, Waldkirchen an der Thaya municipality, Windigsteig municipality (since 2003), Market town of Thaya , town of Raabs an der Thaya (since 2003), town of Waidhofen an der Thaya-Land (since 2003) town of Karlstein an der Thaya , town of  Ludweis-Aigen (since 2003), town of Vitis (since 2003) town of Kautzen and town of Gastern ) and the small region "Erlebnis Thayaland". The future area of Thayaland is thus an association of all communities in the Waidhofen an der Thaya district and is therefore the only small region that encompasses an entire district. This then prepared the cross-border project “ Raabs-Horn Telč 2009 Regional Exhibition ”. The association Zukunftsraum Thayaland has been a member of the cross-border initiative Region Renesance since September 14, 2014.
