Objectives of the regional association

The regional association, founded in 1998, is committed to the tourism region along the rivers March and Thaya and promotes areas such as culture , agriculture and forestry , trade and commerce, also in cross-border areas. He initiates and handles key issues and projects with the aim of using economic opportunities and preserving the natural and cultural space as the basis for quality of life and local recreation. For example, the "March Gourmet" association was founded as a quality, advertising and sales cooperation for regional specialties, and the regional association supports marketing through public relations, advertising, information and customer care. The gentle tourism in the floodplains and communities is promoted by regional development.

The municipalities in Záhorie are the cooperation partners in Slovakia. There is a regular exchange between you and the RV March-Thaya-Auen and projects, festivals and other activities are planned and organized together. The communities on both sides of the March are connected by the only March bridge north of the Danube . It spans the March between Hohenau and Moravský Svätý Ján .

The most important projects (selection)

The main focus of the whole region along the Thaya with its meadow landscape is the regulation of the gels in a biological way. The biological active ingredient Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis was tested as part of a two-year scientifically supervised project . This active ingredient, a biological protein crystal, is deadly for gel larvae without disturbing the natural balance. It is applied regularly by the communities to regulate the life cycle of the gels. This task has meanwhile been taken over by a specially founded association.

The regular events of the regional association and its cooperation partners include:

  • Kellerberg festivals
  • Knight's festival in Dürnkrut and Jedenspeigen
  • Hollow road festival in Niederabsdorf
  • Wine autumn
  • Herb festival in Stupava
