history

In the 1890s, many Raiffeisenkassen were founded in Pinzgau to collect farmers 'savings and cover the farmers' need for loans. In the course of this, the idea of setting up a commercial credit institute also matured. The Mittersill local council therefore decided in June 1894 to found a savings bank. Franz Rothbacher made a room available to the Sparkasse. Mayor Heinrich Schett and notary Dr. Friedrich von Lürzer, businessman Mathias Voglreiter and Johann Vorderegger. In mid-October, the Sparkasse committee was elected by the community committee, with Notary Lürzer assuming the position of head of the office. At the end of July 1895 the official approval for the construction came. At the end of August 1895, the K. and K. Provincial Councilors of Salzburg requested the amendment and improvement of the statutes by means of a decree. In October 1895 the savings bank was able to go about its business.

Until 1945 all functions were carried out on a voluntary basis. The executive board members and board members received remunerations of a small amount. In the last decades Hubert Wielinger (until 1987), then Franz Petschenig and Ferdinand Cenger (until 2007), from 2008 the board directors Gerhard Biller and Christoph Hirscher, from 2015 Gerhard Biller and Klaus Praster and since 2018 Stephan Laner and Christoph Hirscher acted as management . The Sparkasse has meanwhile developed into the “Regional Bank in Oberpinzgau”. Since its inception, it has pursued the founding idea "The Sparkasse has contributed to the economic upward development of the population as well as private and public companies and establishments, primarily in its catchment area".

In the first year of its existence, the Sparkasse held cash desk hours on Saturday mornings, in 1896 the cash desk service was moved to Monday afternoon and in 1914 it was extended to two half-days. Daily traffic including Saturday service was introduced in 1938. During the war, the cash desk hours were reduced to one day a week. Daily traffic has been in effect again since 1947.

In 1900 the relocation took place in the premises of the newly built parish hall. In 1960 the “Insam House” was purchased and the main institute was built in 1961; Since then it has been located on Mittersill's town square. In 1970 a branch was opened in Uttendorf, 1977 in Neukirchen and 1979 in Bramberg.

During the “flood of the century” in 2005, the main institution was also affected and banking operations had to be carried out in containers for more than 6 months. In 2009, the upper floors of the savings bank building in Mittersill were converted and expanded.
