The Sparkasse Scheibbs AG is a Lower Austrian banking company based in Scheibbs and part of the savings bank group in Austria . It was created in 1858 as a community savings bank. The Sparkasse is a member of the cooperation and liability association of the Austrian savings banks and the Austrian savings bank association .

Founding history

As the fifth Sparkasse in Lower Austria, the Sparkasse in Scheibbs was able to start its business activities in the office of the notary Josef Schisky on December 1, 1858. Previously, at the end of January 1856, the statutes had been approved by the local council and the city of Scheibbs had agreed to assume liability. A good year later, the establishment of the savings bank and the statutes received official approval. The establishment of the community savings bank was decided on September 21, 1858 in the town council of Scheibbs, chaired by the then mayor Ignaz Höfinger. At the end of October the Sparkasse Committee was constituted in its first meeting, the chairman and the office director were elected. In 1859 the savings bank in Scheibbs moved to the town hall of the municipality.

Structural development of the main institute

The main establishment of the Sparkasse in Scheibbs moved from the town hall to Hauptstrasse 52 (formerly Haus Glax) in 1958. In 1978, a better-located building in Hauptstrasse 9 (formerly Dr. Jelinek's house) was acquired and rebuilt. In 1998 this building of the main institute was redesigned.

  • 1978 Celebration of the 120th anniversary with the opening of the newly built Sparkassenhaus.
  • 1998 Celebration of the 140th anniversary with the opening of the redesigned Sparkasse building.
  • 2002 Reorganization into a stock corporation, the shares are entirely held by the Sparkasse Scheibbs private foundation.
  • 2008 celebration of the 150th anniversary
