The Minorite Monastery Neunkirchen is a monastery in the city center of Neunkirchen in Lower Austria . The monastery is structurally connected to the older Church of the Assumption .

history

In 1591, the parish of Neunkirchen was patronized by Ludwig von Hoyos, who obliged himself and his descendants to fill the parish and the associated benefits with Catholic pastors. In 1631 the parish is incorporated into the newly founded Minorite monastery, founded by Hans Balthasar von Hoyos.

The irregular early Baroque complex, partly over the older stock, included the course of the former tabor and the late medieval city fortifications. The wings are to the west, north and northeast of the Assumption Church, the structural connection is a Schwibbogengang on the west facade of the church. Destroyed by fire during the second Turkish siege of Vienna in 1683, the monastery was restored in 1686 and rebuilt in 1763. The one to two-storey hook-shaped building has barrel vaults and stitch cap vaults , the corridors are square vaulted. On the second floor there are flat ceilings with stucco mirrors and Biedermeier wall paintings.

The Minoritensaal, the former dining room of the monks, is a rectangular room with a stucco ceiling from the beginning of the 18th century and shows a Christ monogram and a burning Heart of Jesus in acanthus and flowers . There is a painted coat of arms of Hoyos as a chronogram with the year 1770. The stalls are designed in baroque style. There is a canvas painting of Christ in Emmaus around 1770 in a baroque cartouche frame and an oval painting with the portrait of the founder Johannes Balthasar Hoyos, with a coat of arms and the year 1644. Further pictures around 1770 show the Saints Francis of Assisi , Antonius of Padua , Bonaventure , Johannes Duns Scotus , Florian, Leopold of Austria, Pope Clement XIV.

In the staircase is a crucifix from the 2nd half of the 19th century. There are 11 changing pictures in safekeeping, the 12th is in the church. They show the Adoration of the Magi, the Adoration of the Shepherds, St. Francis of Assisi, Ascension, the Crucifixion, the Portiuncula indulgence, the Annunciation, the sending of the Holy Spirit, Anthony of Padua, Joseph of Cupertine, the offering in the Temple.
