Spasoje Krunić

Spasoje Krunić ( Cyrillic Спасоје Крунић ; born October 22, 1939 in Nikšić , Yugoslavia ; † May 5, 2020 in Belgrade , Serbia ) was a Yugoslav or Serbian architect and politician ( SPO ).

Life

After graduating from school in Obrenovac , Spasoje Krunić studied architecture at the University of Belgrade . After graduating in 1968, he worked as a salaried architect for residential and public buildings. In 1985 he started his own business as an architect. From 1995 he taught architecture at the University of Belgrade, where he became a full professor in 2000.

From 1997 to 2000 he was a member of the government of the city of Belgrade and was also a member of the Serbian parliament. In the interim government in office from October 2000 to January 2001, he was one of the two deputies of the Serbian Prime Minister Milomir Minić . From 2000 to 2004 he was a member of the Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro . At times he was a member of the party executive committee of the SPO.

The buildings designed by Spasoje Krunić include:

  • the Jovan Popović Gallery in Pančevo (1969–1970)
  • the command and operations center of the Ministry of the Interior in Belgrade (1981-1983)
  • (with Tariq Al Jeda): Presidential Palace in Baghdad (1988 winner of the international tender; was not realized)
  • Christ the Redeemer Church (Pristina) (planning from 1991, construction 1995–1999, not yet completed)
