The Specimina philologiae Slavicae (Sphs) series has been publishing monographs, anthologies and textbooks on all areas of Slavic studies , in particular on linguistics, literature and cultural studies , since 1972 . From 1984 the series Specimina philologiae Slavicae: Supplement volumes (SphsS) appears in addition to Sphs .

Sphs was founded in 1972 by the Frankfurt Slavists Olexa Horbatsch and Gerd Freidhof and is today run by Holger Kuße ( TU Dresden ), Peter Kosta ( University of Potsdam ), Beatrix Kreß ( University of Hildesheim ), Franz Schindler ( University of Gießen ), Barbara Sonnenhauser ( UZH ) and Nadine Thielemann ( WU Vienna ). From the beginning, the series also published works by members of the Konstanzer Kreis .
