Gerd Freidhof
Gerd Freidhof (born June 12, 1942 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German Slavist .
After studying Slavic Studies at the University of Frankfurt am Main , Gerd Freidhof received his doctorate in 1972 and completed his habilitation in 1978. From 1978 to 1983 he was Professor of Slavic Linguistics at the Philipps University of Marburg , then until his retirement in 2007 at the University of Frankfurt Main. In 1972 he founded the Slavic series Specimina philologiae Slavicae as editor , and in 1974 he founded the Slavic Konstanzer Kreis as a founding member .
Freidhof began as a historical linguist who dealt with the first translation of the Bible into Church Slavonic, the so-called Gennadius Bible , later his focus was on the development of Slavic grammar theory and case grammar, then on terminology, word game theory and lexicology, while recently pragmatics, speech act theory and dialogue analysis are in the foreground. From the beginning of the 1990s, he then published primarily on pragmalinguistics and dialogue analysis.
