European Speedway Championship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Speedway Championship is one of the most important international competitions in speedway sport . It has been used in a European Championship series of four season stations since 2012. This racing series, known as SEC, has been promoted by the Polish marketing agency "One Sport Media" since the 2013 season and is held in a similar way to the World Speedway Grand Prix . In 2013, all four races for this Speedway European Championship were broadcast live on the sports broadcaster Eurosport and had considerable audience ratings, which mean serious commercial competition for the Speedway World Championship Grand Prix.

In 2014 this series is to be increased to six EM stations, with a run in England and a final in Germany , which will now officially take place on July 6, 2014 in Güstrow .

Until 2013, speedway professionals were allowed to take part in both major competitions (the World Cup Grand Prix and the Speedway European Championship). From 2014 the FIM and the World Cup Grand Prix marketer BSI want to prohibit the GP pilots from taking part in the equally prestigious EM series.
