Under a Spermatikus neuralgia is meant violent, crampy pain along the spermatic cord ( spermatic cord ) from the groin down to the testis and in the perineal region .

The term “ neuralgia ” actually stands for attack-like pain in the area where a sensitive nerve spreads . The term "spermatic neuralgia" is therefore incorrect in this context. In fact, the pain is often based on a lesion of the genitofemoral nerve , which supplies the aforementioned region sensitively (the term genitofemoral nerve neuralgia would then be correct). Accordingly, there are treatment options with drugs that reduce the excitability of the nerves (e.g. carbamazepine , gabapentin ).
