Spetalen is a town in the Norwegian municipalities of Råde and Fredrikstad , in the province ( Fylke ) Viken . The place has 2298 inhabitants (as of 2019).
geography
Spetalen is a so-called Tettsted , i.e. a settlement that is counted as one area for statistical purposes. The majority of the area and the area is in the municipality of Råde, in Fredriksstad in 2019 only 83 people lived on an area of 0.12 km².
The place is on the bank of the Krokstadfjorden in the former province of Østfold . On January 1, 2020, Østfold was transferred to the newly created province of Viken as part of the regional reform in Norway .
education
The Spetalen skole is located in Spetalen , a school for students in the first to seventh grade that moved to a new school building in 2017. In 2018 it won the award for “School Building of the Year”.
