The special detachment of the military security , often also military police special detachment , abbreviated MP Spez Det , is a special unit of the military police of the Swiss army . It belongs to the KSK (Special Forces Command), which has been under the Operations Command since the WEA . In Army XXI , it was subordinate to the army command staff.

The tasks of the MP Spez Det are the provision of special services by the military police ( personal and property protection , delivery and arrest of security-endangering persons, access actions, advice and training) and the support of the Bundesrat protection detachment (SDBR) and the military police security service (SDMP), which Flight safety escort and advice and training for other units. Recruitment and training

Requirements for admission to the selection process for the MP Spez Det, is the successfully completed police school; this can happen with the military police or with a civilian police corps. In order to be able to join the MP Spez Det , a completed apprenticeship or Matura is necessary, one must be a member of the Swiss Army and have a category B driver's license. You also need an impeccable repute, basic knowledge of a second national language (French or Italian) and English as well as a very good physical and psychological condition. Anyone who thinks they meet these requirements can apply for the selection process. In addition to a medical check-up, physical, psychological and intellectual performance is checked.

The selection process comprises the following areas: sports test, shooting test, distance diving, altitude stability test, performance march and stress exercise, psychological aptitude test, personal interview with the selection committee and a medical check-up.

Sports test

The sports test includes the following disciplines:

  • 200 m swim in under 4:40 min.
  • At least 42 pushups in a minute
  • At least 42 torso flexions in one minute
  • At least 23 bench jumps in one minute
  • At least 5 pull-ups with no time limit
  • at least 9 rounds in the so-called KKK course (strength, coordination and fitness course)

Only those who meet the minimum requirements in all of these disciplines are allowed to participate in the selection process.

education

The basic training in the MP Spez Det lasts 31 weeks. During this time, the candidates learn a wide variety of things from the fields of police and military work. This includes u. a. Personal protection, close combat , shooting with special weapons, helicopter technology and psychology. This is followed by training to become a specialist: technician, mobility specialist, police reconnaissance specialist, paramedic or service dog handler.
