Object protection is the guarantee of the security of objects through guarding . It aims to prevent the impairment of the function, the destruction or the taking possession of an object by interferers, criminals or enemies. The usability and functionality of the property should be preserved. As a service provided by private companies, the surveillance of objects is also called separate surveillance .

Property protection is carried out by the military , the police and security services. Objects used by the state (mostly military), economically and privately (residences, housing estates) are protected.
