geography

The hamlet lies on the slopes of the Bergisches Land . Neighboring towns are Bölkum and Stranzenbach in the north and Obersaurenbach and Ruppichteroth in the south. The Millerscheider Bach rises in Hodgeroth .

history

In 1666, according to the list of homages at the time, the heads of the families Rorich, Albert Schmitt and Seymon Bucher lived in Hodgeroth.

In 1809 the place had 31 Catholic and 30 Lutheran residents.

In 1910 Hodgeroth included the households of Ackerer Eduard and Wilhelm Adolphs, mason Heinrich Hänscheid, Ackerin (widow?) Friedrich Hänscheid, mason journeyman Otto Keim, Ackerer Heinrich Lindenberg, Ackerer Friedrich Philipp, Ackerer Peter Wilhelm and Wilhelm Schmidt, Ackerer Karl Stöcker and Ackerer Wilhelm Stommel recorded.
