Fußhollen is a district of the municipality of Ruppichteroth .

location

Fußhollen lies on the Nutscheid in about 230  m above sea level. NHN . Neighboring towns are Tanneck in Derenbachtal , Litterscheid and Winterscheider Mühle .

history

In 1712 15 households with 64 souls lived here : Henrich Zimmermann, Wittwe Knecht, Adolph Klein, Henrich Fischer, Martinus Fischer, Henrich Fischer senior, Adolph Hoscheid, Sebastian Briel, Martin Griffroth, Wilem Weber, Volmar Schmit, Wilhelm Severing, Peter Schmit, Peter Hombücher and Bertram Becker.

In 1809 the place had 92 Catholic residents.

In 1809/1810 typhus broke out in the foot dunes , which developed into a local epidemic.

The Fußhollen elementary school was built in 1891 and closed in 1969. The building is now used privately.

Events

Every year the Martinsmarkt takes place in Fußhollen with drinks and food stalls, as well as tents in which decorations and the like are sold. This also includes a Martinszug with role play and subsequent Martinsfeuer.

chapel

In 1953 a chapel building association was founded to build the Trinity Chapel. Mass was held there on Thursdays. The small bell in the chapel comes from the abandoned chapel in Bechlingen.

In 2013 a little Marian house was built next to the chapel, in which a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary is housed.
