The hamlet is on the Nutscheid . The only neighboring town is Winterscheid in the northeast.

history

In 1712 three households with 18 souls lived here : Johannes Cleff, Johannes Stommel and Philpp Schäzer.

In 1809 the place had 29 Catholic residents.

In 1910, the households widow Anton Heidinger, the Ackerer Adolf, Johann and Johann Martin Hupperich, Ackerer Johann Jaeger, Ackerer Gerhard Manz and Ackerer Karl Wirtz were listed for Schreckenberg. At that time the place belonged to the municipality of Winterscheid .
