The hamlet is in the Derenbach valley . Neighboring towns are Derenbach in the north and Schmitzdörfgen in the west.

history

In 1712 8 households with 31 souls lived here : Anna Veronika Hohlenfelts, Wilhelm Schneider, Nicolaus Derenbach, Hilger Hatterscheid, widow Heinrich Krey, widow Schönauer and Henrich Schwarz.

In 1809 the place had 30 Catholic residents.

In 1910, the households Ackerer Heinrich and Wimar Alenfelder, the widows Hubert and Peter Holenfelder, bricklayer Josef Schmitz, Ackerer Philipp Schneider, Ackerer Hubert Walterscheid and Ackerer Peter Zimmenmann were recorded for Holenfeld. So the village was dominated by agriculture.
