Heinrich Otto von Aderkas

Heinrich Otto von Aderkas ( Russian Андрей Антонович Адеркас , Andrei Antonowitsch Aderkas ; * 1770 in Peddast on Moon ; † March 28th July / 9th April  1840 greg. In Arensburg on Ösel ) was a general of the Imperial Russian Army .

Life

Heinrich von came from the Baltic German aristocratic family Aderkas . He was a brother of the civil governor of Pleskau Berend Otto von Aderkas (1775-1831).

His career began in 1776 with the 1st Cadet Corps . In 1789 he was in the rank of lieutenant in the Velikolukski Musketeer Regiment , in 1789 he was captain and quartermaster under General von Knorring in Finland , in 1793 commander in Narva and then with the general staff . In 1795 Aderkas was already a major and served under General Repnin in Poland . As a lieutenant colonel he went to St. Petersburg where he was promoted to colonel of the general staff in 1799 . In 1800 he took over the position of head of the quartermaster department in St. Petersburg and Gatchina .

In 1805 Aderkas served under General Tolstoy and went with him to Hanover . He also took part in the battles at Preussisch Eylau , Heilsberg and Friedland , was subsequently awarded the Pour le Mérite and promoted to major general. In 1808 he was appointed quartermaster general in the army of Prince Peter Bagration in Finland. From March 2 to March 10, 1809, Heinrich led the division that conquered the Åland Islands for the second time.

After the end of the Swedish War , in whose implementation plans Aderkas played a key role, Prince Bagration insisted on appointing him Quartermaster General for the army under his command.

Aderkas then took part in the Russo-Turkish War . Here he commanded the siege of the Turkish fortress of Silistra on September 22, 1809. From 1811 Aderkas was quartermaster general of the 2nd Western Army in Shitomir and then in Lutzk, but in 1812 he left for health reasons and retired to his estate in Oesel .

In 1825 Alexander I called him again into the service, namely as quartermaster general with the emperor's main staff. In 1826 he was promoted to lieutenant general, but the same year he had to submit his departure again for health reasons, which was also granted.

Heinrich Otto von Aderkas died in Arensburg at the age of 70 of dropsy .
