history

A mill has existed here since 1851, it was built by Peter Stommel from Wingenbach . On May 13, 1876, a Philipp Stommel applied to convert his mill into a powder mill . The application was approved on July 25, subject to structural conditions.

On July 6, 1881, when the owner of the mill was called widow Wilhelm Pütz, there was an explosion in which a worker was killed and property damage occurred in Kämerscheid. Then the mill was sold to the Bergische Pulverfabrik Aktien-Gesellschaft Elberfeld . On October 27, 1882 and January 9, 1883, there were further explosions, which only caused serious damage to the plant.

In 1895/96 the powder was well received, mostly to Belgium . Eight to ten men worked in the mill and a locomotive was used for internal transport.

On March 28, 1900, three children playing set fire to the powder room and were torn apart by the explosion. As a result, operations were stopped.

In 1910 the factory worker Gottfried Krämer lived here.
