The Sphagnopsida are a class of mosses that belong to the deciduous mosses (Bryophyta) as a separate subdivision . It consists of only two genera in two orders, namely on the one hand the peat mosses ( Sphagnum ) in the order Sphagnales and Ambuchanania , a monotypical genus in a separate order Ambuchananiales with the species Ambuchanania leucobryoides
